Match Mesh Count to the Job
Objective: Pick the right clarity vs. flow balance for your crop and timing.
When you pour warm honey and it sheets evenly through the screen, you’ve nailed the mesh. Coarse (≈20–40 mesh) knocks out cappings on extraction day, fine (≈80–100 mesh) polishes before drums or filling, and very fine (≈150–200 mesh nylon) gives show-glass clarity for retail jars or mead. Warmer honey (~30–35 °C) halves viscosity, so a 100-mesh runs 2–3× faster without forcing heat that dulls aroma.
-
Use case map: Coarse = post-extractor; 80–100 mesh = pre-storage/filler; 150–200 mesh = final polish.
-
Why it works: Mesh (wires/inch) controls the largest particle that passes; stepping down prevents blinding and keeps flow steady.
